When your moving the mouse it switches to its High Power mode (Laser gets brighter) and when your not using it it will switch to low power mode (Laser goes dim) however coming from a corded mouse where i never turned it off it will be interesting to see what happens to the battery from standby usage because i never remember to turn it off. Overall Review: I have not owned the mouse long enough to speak to its battery usage however it is interesting to note that there is an ON/OFF switch on the bottom of the mouse. not a Con for me but for those lefties out there be warned.
